Streco has the ability to evaluate complex structures and provide unique consultation on retrofitting of structures using advanced fiber reinforced polymers. Examples of structures include buildings, bridges and pipelines.
In the conceptual design phase, many alternative designs are analysed to address different issues like aesthetics, structural systems, construction cost and future maintenance.
Streco can fill the gap between the conceptual design and the final in a scientific and organized manner. Our professional staff with experience in both design and construction give Streco the possibility to provide outstanding detailed design reports.
Tailor-made and user-friendly software for case-specific analysis and design purposes based on new standards such as the Euro codes.
Streco has the ability to evaluate structures with aging and fatigue problems. In addition, we have the ability to provide consultation on fatigue improvement of steel structures using state-of-the-art methods.
NDE is a new section in Streco which deals with interdisciplinary methods such as RBI (Risk based inspection) in both steel and FRP structures.
All over the world, there are different kinds of infrastructures with aging problems which are soon reaching or have reached their planed service-life. Moreover, many of these infrastructure, like bridges, were built to carry loads that were significantly lower than the current needs. This is why deterioration in form of corrosion, fatigue cracking and spalling are common in old infrastructure.
Replacement of these structures is not the only way to solve the aging problems in many cases. Strengthening and repair of structures based on the state-of-the-art methods, such as FRP bonding, which are often not only more economic but also induce less traffic disturbances.
Streco has the ability to evaluate the remaining life of the structures and also provide consultation for retrofitting of structures.
During a conceptual design, advanced optimization algorithms are used to asses various design alternatives. The design alternatives are analyzed to address different issues such as aesthetics, structural systems, materials, construction costs and future maintenance.
Scope of Streco’s conceptual design in general for structures:
1- Identify and evaluate the existing conditions and establish the purpose and needs of a structure,
2- Develop a concept based on the structural needs,
3- Evaluate different structural alternatives,
4- Refine the alternatives from the evaluation and choose superior alternative,
5- Review the funding and project implementation.
Streco can fill the gap between the conceptual design phase and final phase with a scientific methodology. In the first step, a preliminary picture is developed to an accuracy level of about minus, plus 10 percent of the final structure. In this phase, the company can give a precise picture that covers the interrelations between different parts in a complex structure.
In the second step, as the detailed design, Streco provides sophisticated and complete design reports and blue prints. This is achieved by a close collaboration of professional field engineers with knowledgeable structural designers.
Our engineers at Streco use advanced programming tools to develop tailor-made software for case-specific structural enquiries. The developed software can be used to accomplish complicated tasks in an automated way with the highest efficiency. Unlike other commercially available software, the tailor-made software can be produced for customized needs of customers.
Given the advantages of FE-based solutions, we can develop software with highest accuracy for almost any structural case such as industrial frame design, foundation analysis, fatigue assessment, etc.
Many structures, such as bridges or offshore platforms, are subjected to cyclic loads and hence fatigue damage. The failures due to fatigue in such structures can lead to loss of life. In addition, the evaluation and repair of fatigue damaged details in infrastructural networks imposes substantial costs each year to authorities. Hence, a correct evaluation of reaming service life of structures can both save money and ensure safety.
Streco can evaluate different structures with fatigue problems. In addition, we have the ability to provide consultation on fatigue improvement of steel structures using state-of-the-art methods. The fatigue enhancement can increase the service life of existing structures to a great extent.
The new track at Streco is NDE, reliability analysis, RBI and inspection planning for complex structures. This division determines the inspection intervals, periodic repair and fatigue enhancement by modelling the potential failure locations, reliability analysis and risk assessments.
The scientific inspection planning based on real demands of complex structures can reduce the cost of third party in addition to increasing the safety.
